that was due to an abuse of game mechanics, this was not.
Arguably the entire alliance disband mechanism is flawed game mechanics and plenty of people have been arguing that since way before the Band of Brothers disband. But thats besides the point. Ushra'khan and their allies left CVA space completely alone during the couple of days it took for their disband issue to be resolved and went so far as to threaten to reset and attack anyone who looked likely to profit from the disband.
Will CVA be making a similar gesture here or will they be supporting those who seek to profit from these game mechanics. The decision will say a lot about CVA and their leadership.
But anyways, since you seem like the man with his finger on the pulse what do you say happened here? Fmercury. How did this happen? Why not tell us the story.

Yes I remember that and didn't Aralis say something about feeling indebted to the honour of his enemies or something? I guess losing all his sovereignty and falling back on hydra support made him accidentally drop his moral compass down a well or something. Say what you like about Eve online, this game certainly has the capacity to make complete snakes out of people

Killed a piece of Eve heritage by exploiting a crappily undeveloped alliance management system and once again demonstrating why CCP need to devote some development teams to fixing and correcting broken old content.
Ushra'khan was one of the oldest alliance names in the game.
Rest in piece, you earned your place in history.

Originally by: Aralis To answer some of the points raised here and clear the air a bit a rare CVA announcement.
We did not in any way cause this, though obviously we are beneficiaries.
This is not hacking or metagaming. It's a genuine disgruntled faction within UK. (Not the first of those in recent times but the first to take it so far.)
If this was hacking obviously we would stand clear. It's not. This is a valid in game action, not a nice one, but a legal one. Yes personally I agree these are crap game mechanics. But many crap game mechanics have hurt us. This is how it is.
As a player I sympathise for the old timers who did keep their honour and do not deserve this. (Though most of UK have seemed to lack any honour for some time. Mucho metagaming has been used against us.) However this is an in game, in character action and obviously there I am pleased.
You are a disgraceful hypocritical man and everything you have ever stood for is now revealed as so much noise and froth. Any members of the CVA who care about their reputation in Eve should leave your organization right now. You understand this is poor game mechanics, its a broken part of the alliance management system, yet you are prepared to take full advantage already anchoring SBU's and seeking to recapture the territory that was taken from you in war.
When this happened to your alliance Ushra'khan, AAA, SF and dozen's of other eve RP and non-RP entities stood up immediately and condemned it before we knew what the story was because we disapproved with the action on principle. We didn't know whether you'd be hacked or it was a traitor or it was a game glitch but we still condemned it and decided not to attack your space because we didn't like the idea of an old and famous Eve alliance being taken down with this kind of disreputable and pathetic glitchy disband.
Yet here you stand spitting in the face of those who defended you against precisely this kind of attack and trying to justify it on the murky accusation of "metagaming" against your enemies.
I've never liked you Aralis. I've never trusted or respected you. I've always considered you a snake and dishonest man. Now I know I was right all along.

Originally by: Alistair Cononach In-Character, I am quite pleased with the results. A Terrorist force has been (at least temporarily) neutered, stripped of it's name and history, and dealt a strong blow to it's pride. Alistair (the character) despises the Matari Freedom Fighters, and their suffering is good. Amarrians are not Samurai playing Space-Bushido (at least not my reading of prime fiction). They can be as devious and underhanded and exploitive as anyone. As such, in-character, Alistair is pleased at this development, even if he has no knowldge or hand in it's coming.
Out of Character, I truly feel for U'K. To lose your name this way, through such dishonourably outright lies and betrayal from one of your own, who wasn't one of your own, is just crap. I won't lie, I think both CVA and U'K choose to leave behnd some (much?) or their traditional RP roots for being 0.0 Sov Holders, and the sometime sacrifices that requires (like becoming friends with folks who view metagaming as a way of life). I think U'K also engaged in metagaming of it's own over the years too, lord knows we have U'K spies within CVA, they've reported our alliance chat enough times in local over the years. So in some ways, I think U'K made the bed they now lie in.
With that said, I still (out of character/oog) can't really find alot of support for this, and would have preferred it didn't happen, and can assure you that no one I knew knew this was coming. I'd rather fight the U'K in space, than see them brought low in this way, although I doubt the low-bringing will last for long. It hurts, but it's just a name, you still have all that you had before, now with a dose of vengeance. I hope that U'K comes back and strong, the RP battle (for the few of us left who love oldschool RP) is the best rivalry in EVE imo, and a huge part of what makes EVE fun for me.
To Karn, and the rest of the oldschool RP folks in U'K, I am truly sorry for your loss, and I hope you can find a way to get your name back from the traitor at the very least. I'm sorry you've had to go through this, but I know you guys will carry on the good fight and be back with your boots on sooner rather than later. EVE needs U'K as much as it needs CVA in my view, and EVE is a better place for having the both of us. So keep your chins up, and your blades shapr, I am sure we'll see you back and asskicking in no time.
Obviously, my Out-of-character view does not represent CVA in any form, only my own personal view. Please keep that in mind.
You lost you space through a military campaign with strength in space.
Your best chance of getting it back was an alliance disband from a traitor utilizing poor game mechanics.
Aralis knew all about the disband in advance and you serve him. You have no position for a high morale stance in this.

You know perfectly well the alliance management system is ridiculous. Its literally impossible to share any kind of control in an executor corp without leaving yourselves open to this. You have encouraged a traitor to destroy the oldest remaining RP alliance in the game for a handful of isk because you were incapable of forging your own competitive coalition and presenting a credible threat to enemy sovereignty with spaceships.
But its pointless talking about it to you Garmon. All I've written above just feeds your teen-rage nihilism: you love wrecking game history in a pathetic manner because it brings the past low and lowers the bar of accomplishment so that insects like yourself are capable of feeling good about their deeds in this universe.
Anybody who cares about the political game of eve would likely agree that CCP should spend some development time improving the corp and alliance management options available since it makes no sense that thousands of players can lose their identity time and time again due to the fact it is literally impossible to secure an alliance entity while giving ANYBODY else control of missile keys.
I was however addressing my posts in this thread to members of the CVA who might actually have a bit of self-respect remaining and see that his involvement in this matter makes Aralis a corrupt and discredited personality far beyond any kind of respect or trust in this game.
It doesn't surprise me in the least to see goons and hydra and other kids applauding the destruction of a famous alliance name. You are spiteful little jealous brats - its what you do.
But its just possible there are some still in the CVA who have a bit more honesty, integrity and frankly self-respect and want their time in Eve to mean a little more than "those RP-guys who got given their space back by pirates and scammers."
Not many I'll grant you, but I bet there are some.

This ain't the end of U'K, even if we've lost the name.
I think the irony is its more likely to be the end of the CVA as a functioning alliance. Only snakes will remain with that brand now. I guess Aralis needs to watch his own back from here on. There won't be much sympathy when he gets hargothed.

I mean sure it's not exactly a 'win' for us, so, Congratulations on winning the engagement and holding the field, I don't see how you can even remotely spin this as "kicking our ass" though, which is what the guy who Count MonteCarlo quoted, said. All facts considered.
I also don't know why you would make a post smacking about how one of our Machariel pilots has t1 guns, when you have Triple CCC, Triple Cap Recharge, PDU Megabeam Abaddons on the field, 7 gun t1 megabeam Apoc, Cap Recharger Geddon, bringing my ratting fit to PvP Dominix, 6 gun cap recharger megathron, bringing my ratting raven, not 1 not 2 but 3 manticores with incorrect damage type missiles and no replacement. In your fleets.
Bloody hell! All that frantic linking of killmails to defend the honour of your space corporation definitely means you are of sound mind and not at all irritated at the suggestion some of your pilots might be a little bit suboptimal.

Well ultimately there is difference yes. But the problem for you is that UK/AAA and practically everyone else opposed to the CVA declared their support and forebearance immediately before we knew whether it was an account hack or simple infilitration/betrayal.
And you and I both know that if UK/AAA had attacked immediately when CVA got disbanded then CCP would not have been able to undo their gains regardless of correcting damage from the account hack, they would have achieved a serious advantage by behaving precisely as you have now.
Quote: CVA's reaction to this will likely be more or less in accordance with the new standards of "play to win so long as it ain't against the EULA" set by Ushra'Khan when we got beat down. U'K claimed at that time (and continue to assert) that they never did and never will infiltrate us, but were happy to utilize vent info and tower passwords attained by other means. Likewise...we'll probably not pause in our efforts in Providence just because Hydra apparently pulled off a pretty decent infiltration.
I don't think you get to claim "UK did this first" with any credibilty given the CVA's use of downtime tower spam cheese to take the UK's stations in Providence all those years ago Garreck. And the repeated incidents of CVA defending its space only through the intercession of non-RP sometimes quite shoddy allies (looking at goonswarm) made a bit of a mockery of your rules of engagement a long time ago.
But I do think its probably a good thing in general that CVA is now acknowleding that Amarrian Nationalism is something that works well with treachery, scumbags and general dishonest manipulation of enemies where military force cannot work. It certainly suits my understanding of the game background better than all this nonsense about kindly uncle Aralis tending the noob utopia in Providence did. Amarrian loyalists are deceitful, disgusting, morally-bankrupt liars and manipulators in serve to a corrupt and decadent faith built on torture, brain-washing and slave labour. I find it entirely fitting you would use a traitor to achieve your ends.
Its just a shame the traitor of the hour is such a nobody.
Imagine the scene from Dune.
"They have my wife my Duke, but remember the tooth, when you see the Baron, remember the tooth." "A thousand deaths are not enough for Yueh!"

I think that alt was originally made in 2003 by some pirates working for TTI, its a very very old thing and nothing to do with Sev3rance. As for Ragadude's abaddon .... hmmm, what possible use could a cap stable laser platform on a second account be at around the time that a station needs shooting into its next reinforcement phase. I wonder. Still nice kill! Congratulations. Good fight etc.
